Community service is an important priority in our country and a founding VFW tenet. The VFW has a rich tradition associated with community service. Working closely with other national organizations, the VFW annually reports over 14 million volunteer hours.
Post 10380 takes part in civic activities in Green Township including the Kids Kite Fly, Kids Fun Day and Winterfest. We participate in the Green Township Party in the Park and Harvest Home Parades each year.
The Post conducts the annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day Programs for the Township. Details will be posted on this site under the Calendar menu each year for the program date.
Our Post is fortunate to have a Permanent Flag Retirement Court at Veterans Park. Thanks to the Green Township Trustees for their foresight to have this solemn place constructed.
The Township will accept torn and faded Flags for proper disposal. Drop used flags off at the Green Township Administration Building, 6303 Harrison Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45248. Flag Retirement Ceremonies are conducted in October and March, see Calendar of Event page for Day and Time.
The Post Honor Guard provides Flag presentation services to organizations on request for public activities.
The Post Honor Guard is available to assist families to conduct Memorial Services for deceased veterans. Services available include:
- The VFW Ritual: a non-denominational service conducted at the graveside, or as part of a funeral or memorial service.
- Rifle team to provide gun salute.
- Bugler to play Taps.
- Presentation of Flag to next of kin. (Normally the Flag is provided by the Mortuary. The Post can obtain the Flag if the discharge document for the veteran is available.)
To request services of the Post Honor Guard, call Bob Abrams (513-609-6379) or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please provide as much advance notice as possible. Many such events are arranged months in advance.
